Start a Playlist for Yourself or for Others
These days most americans have an electronic at home that can play music.
Places like Youtube, Spotify and Apple Music gives you access to a wide varitey of songs. Create a playlist taylored to you and to the person you are caring for. Playlists should be about 40 songs or more. You want this to be something to get people moving and jog their brain. You can never go wrong asking about their favorite artists or favorite genre. Remember that music is universal, there is something for everyone. If you need example playlists, I have created some that were made for the Out and About Program at JFSSD.A suggestion while playing your care partners' favorite music is to have them get up and dance. Studies show that exercise slow the progression of Dementia. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions about their life while the music it plays. All kinds of memories come to light when listening to sweet sounds. There is only one rule. Have Fun! |
